This position supports an
Outpatient Surgery unit
responsible for
pre‑operative and post‑operative care of surgical patients . The RN acts as a clinical leader in the delivery of patient care using the Nursing Process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The RN effectively delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members while maintaining accountability for quality patient outcomes and professional practice.
Responsibilities
Provide pre‑operative and post‑operative nursing care to outpatient surgical patients
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing monitoring
Identify learning needs and provide patient and family education
Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources effectively
Serve as a leader and collaborative partner on the interdisciplinary care team
Utilize clinical data to evaluate outcomes and support continuous improvement
Adapt care delivery to meet the needs of diverse patient populations
Promote patient satisfaction, employee morale, and nursing excellence
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation standards
Uphold patient safety, privacy, and ethical standards
Perform other related duties as assigned
Education and/or Certification Requirement
Required: Registered Nurse Diploma
Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Required: Active RN license in state of practice
Required: Current BLS (American Heart Association)
Required: Current ACLS (American Heart Association)
Preferred: Certification in clinical specialty area
Experience Requirement
Required: 2+ years of RN experience
Background in Outpatient Surgery, Med‑Surg, or PACU preferred
Management Requirement
Ability to delegate and direct care team members
Functions as a clinical leader within the unit
Process Oversight Requirement
Accountability for quality patient outcomes
Ensures compliance with safety, regulatory, and accreditation standards
Adheres to the organization’s Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct
Specific Skills Requirement
Proficiency with computers, EMRs, and web‑based applications
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and time‑management abilities
Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced outpatient surgical environment
