Optometric Technician - Medical Assistant - Part Time

Job Description
This position is part of National Vision’s network at EyeglassWorld.com, supporting quality eye care and optics retail services.
Responsibilities
Ensure high quality patient care.
Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance of the doctor’s office and pre‑test room.
Understand ocular terminology, diseases, and abbreviations.
Explain preliminary examination types to patients.
Complete necessary paperwork and perform tests on patients prior to doctor examination.
Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
Conduct exam pre‑screening.
Review prescriptions and patient information and identify special needs, consulting with optician, doctor or retail management as necessary.
Fill out referral forms and follow‑up paperwork.
Maintain accurate and organized patient records.
Ensure equipment (both doctor’s and pre‑test) is properly maintained.
Order and manage supplies and pharmaceuticals as directed.
Follow all store and corporate policies and procedures.
Participate in mandatory communications meetings to stay informed of policy changes.
Qualifications
Previous retail/optical experience preferred but not required.
Strong customer‑service skills.
Ability to learn optical knowledge.
Clear and concise instruction skills for customers.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Detail‑oriented.
Multitasking and time‑management skills.
