Hours of Operation
Monday‑Friday: 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Sunday: Closed
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
This role is focused on direct patient care and clinical support. Front desk duties are not part of regular responsibilities, though occasional coverage may be needed for breaks or call‑outs.
Patient Care & Clinical Support
Assist veterinarians and technicians during physical exams, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures
Administer medications as prescribed (oral, injectable, subcutaneous, and topical)
Monitor and record vital signs, patient behavior, and condition during exams, procedures, and recoveries
Prepare patients for surgery: surgical site prep, patient positioning, and maintaining sterile fields
Assist with anesthesia induction and monitoring under supervision
Collect and process diagnostic samples (blood, fecal, urine) and assist with radiographs and in‑house lab testing
Perform basic patient care tasks such as nail trims, anal gland expressions, grooming assistance, ear cleanings, and wound care
Maintain cleanliness and proper sterilization of exam rooms, treatment areas, surgical suite, and medical equipment
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of treatments and observations in patient records
Qualifications
Education & Experience
At least 1 year of hands‑on experience as a Veterinary Assistant in a clinical setting (preferred)
High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a veterinary assistant program is a plus
Familiarity with animal restraint, basic medical terminology, and common veterinary procedures
Comfort working with dogs, cats, and small animals of all temperaments and sizes
Technical Skills
Basic understanding of animal anatomy, pharmacology, and disease processes
Experience assisting with diagnostic procedures (blood draws, fecal/urine collection, x‑rays)
Ability to administer medications and monitor patients during and after procedures
Knowledge of proper cleaning, sterilization, and biohazard disposal protocols
Proficiency in documenting patient care accurately and clearly in medical records
Soft Skills & Personal Traits
Compassionate and patient-focused
with a genuine love for animals
Team player
with excellent communication and collaboration skills
Ability to
stay calm under pressure , especially in emergency situations
Highly reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and safely handle animals
