Position Summary
The Medical Assistant plays a key role in supporting the provider in delivering exceptional clinical care while ensuring each patient feels informed, comfortable, and well-supported throughout their visit. This position is ideal for an individual who values both clinical excellence and a high-touch patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the provider with examinations and in-office procedures, including gynecologic exams (speculum and bimanual exams), Pap smears, STI swabs, vaginal cultures, endometrial biopsy setup, and IUD insertions/removals (setup, sterile field preparation, instrument handling, and patient positioning support)

Prepare exam rooms and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment with full procedural readiness for gynecologic procedures (IUD kits, biopsy instruments, culture swabs, colposcopy setup if applicable)

Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection (required)

Obtain and document vital signs and patient medical histories, including gynecologic history (cycle tracking, perimenopausal symptoms, contraceptive history, sexual health history, pelvic pain, bleeding patterns, and PMS/PMDD screening)

Educate patients on procedures, treatment plans, and follow-up care, including coordinating lab orders and assisting with specimen collection.

Manage clinical documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR)

Coordinate care and communicate effectively with front desk and administrative staff

Ensure compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and HIPAA regulations

Sterilize, process, and maintain clinical instruments and equipment

Monitor inventory and order clinical supplies as needed

Triage phone calls related to clinical questions, results, and patient concerns when appropriate

Qualifications

Certified or Registered Medical Assistant

Phlebotomy training and hands-on experience required; preferred experience includes assisting with IUD placements, Pap smear collection, vaginal swabs, and hormone lab workflows.

Prior experience in gynecology, urology, or women’s health strongly preferred; minimum of 3+ years of experience in gynecology required.

Familiarity with Athenahealth (Athena) is a plus

Excellent bedside manner and strong patient service skills

High level of attention to detail, organization, and professionalism

Ability to thrive in a concierge-style, patient-focused environment

Compensation
$22–$25 per hour, based on experience
