Work Schedule: 7a - 7p, 3x12hr Shifts/Week. Every third weekend and rotating holidays

Responsibilities
Provide age‑specific care and ensure patients understand and are comfortable with treatment.
Deliver individualized customer service and patient care.
Complete age‑specific competency assessments.
Maintain excellent interpersonal relations with patients, co‑workers, physicians, and guests to enable effective communication.
Respond promptly and courteously to patient needs.
Collect and report patient feedback on their hospital experience.
Communicate patient issues to the appropriate staff.
Maintain a positive attitude and respond to requests in a timely and accurate manner.
Coordinate with other health‑care team members (food service, secretaries, housekeeping, etc.) as indicated.
Participate in the reporting process.
Satisfy clinical activities listed in the patient’s plan of care, including comfort, activity, sleep and other delegated responsibilities.
Notify the nurse of patient comfort needs promptly.
Ensure skin is clean, dry, and monitor for changes.
Assist with activities of daily living, repositioning, turning, chair transfers, and ambulation.
Take vital signs and weigh patients as per the plan of care.
Reinforce patient education.
Provide transportation assistance and attend to patient amenities (newspapers, mail, watering plants).
Document all data collected accurately, completely, and timely in Cerner or on worksheets.
Submit documentation on an ongoing basis throughout the shift.
Prepare exam rooms and medical equipment for patient treatment, following provider protocols 95% of the time.
Manage sterilization needs, ensuring equipment is returned on time.
Maintain clean and organized work areas, including clinical care stock and supplies.
Cover the front reception area and serve as backup office assistant when directed.
Answer the phone professionally and accurately transcribe messages for providers.
Assist with patient intake, scheduling, and other tasks as assigned.
Perform other duties delegated or directed by professional staff.
Ensure coverage of all duties when the nurse or other staff are off unit.
Provide assistance to team members once own tasks are complete.
Report incidents appropriately.
Apply standard and transmission‑based infection control precautions consistently.
Work under the direct supervision of the staff nurse, applying the 4 Rights of Delegation: right task, right person, right communication, and right feedback.
Education
High School diploma or GED preferred.
Completion of the first clinical rotation as a Nursing Assistant preferred.
Successful completion of the 75‑hour state‑approved Nurse Assistant course or six months of Nurse Assistant experience required.
High school students 16 years or older who have met the above requirements will be considered.
Experience
Previous customer service, cleaning, food service, or patient‑related experience preferred.
One to three months of on‑the‑job experience learning hospital procedures and routines preferred.
Experience in a patient‑care setting such as a hospital, clinic, or nursing home preferred.
Direct patient contact experience preferred.
Orientation and on‑the‑job training to learn hospital procedures and routines will be provided.
License/Certifications
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross strongly preferred at the time of hire; required within three months of hire.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Ability to understand and follow instructions, schedules, and communications.
Ability to collect, record, and report patient needs to the appropriate caregiver.
Demonstrate critical thinking skills suitable to the job description.
Participate in mandatory in‑services and continuing education programs as directed.
