Medical Assistant
Rothman Orthopaedics is looking to hire a full‑time Medical Assistant based in our Bryn Mawr, PA office. Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Job Summary
The Medical Assistant provides assistance to the Physician and Physician’s Assistant with daily administrative and clinical duties.

Key Accountabilities
Increase patient satisfaction, compliance with schedule prep, voicemail, accurate end‑of‑day batching, compliance with time stamping, compliance with clinical policies and procedures, wait times, timeliness and accuracy with pre‑certs and authorizations.

Essential Duties

Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them to the exam room. Directs patients throughout the experience, including orthotics, rehab, surgery scheduling, x‑ray, and/or front desk.

Maintains order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room, and prepares the room for patients.

Cleans and autoclaves instruments.

Provides and scans proper paperwork into the chart for Physician’s review.

Obtains and records vitals per Physician’s request.

Prepares injections for the Physician as per protocols.

Pulls up x‑rays, MRIs, CTs, and other studies, including reports, pertaining to the patient’s exam.

Assists patient with clothing when necessary.

Disposes of bio‑hazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulation, and replaces sharps containers when full.

Answers telephones in patient treatment areas.

Requests, obtains, and uploads reports from various facilities for Physician review.

Empties and restocks laundry.

Scans appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen by the Physician and directs Physician in patient appointment order.

Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation, ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present.

Completes pre‑certifications for MRIs, injectable, and other Physician orders as necessary.

Send Visco Injection authorization request to supplement pre‑certification representative.

Covers other areas in the office as directed by manager.

Covers Provider jellybeans and voicemail as needed/requested.

Knowledge of fax logs.

Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested.

Reads and responds to email communications within appropriate time frame.

Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.

Identifies weekly schedule, including changes, published by manager.

Handles specimens (including urine, blood, drainage from incisions, aspirated fluids, etc.) and labels accordingly. Follows order instructions to ensure specimen is sent to appropriate lab for analysis.

Qualifications

HS Diploma or GED (minimum).

Active National Medical Assistant Certification preferred.

Minimum of one year of experience in a medical office preferred.

Medical office procedures and medical terminology knowledge.

Computer skills, including MS Office Suite.

Pay Range
$16.00/hr – $24.00/hr.
