Position Overview
Nexus Family Healing is adding a Temporary Relief Youth Care Professional at its Walden Crossing location in Portland, Oregon, a short‑stay residential treatment facility that serves up to six youth aged 10‑17 with mental and developmental disabilities involved in the justice system.
Job Type
Part‑time, Temporary Relief, on‑site opportunity: all shifts.
Schedule & Compensation
Shifts: 1st – 7:00 am – 5:30 pm, 2nd – 2:00 pm – 12:30 am, 3rd – 11:30 pm – 8:00 am.
Pay: $23.00+ per hour.
Location: 722 NE 162nd Ave, Portland, OR 97320.

Responsibilities
Support and reinforce the therapeutic plan of clients by guiding residents in daily living activities.
Provide mentorship and supervise residents' daily activities and behavior according to established guidelines and procedures.
Collaborate with coworkers to implement treatment plans and therapeutic services.
Maintain awareness of each client's phase, privileges, restrictions and adapt interactions accordingly.
Ensure resident safety and maintain a positive, respectful, clean and therapeutic environment.
Work effectively with families/support networks to reinforce positive family partnerships; follow established protocols for family engagement and involvement.
Plan and participate in off‑campus resident activities and assist in transportation of clients to home visits, doctor appointments, and recreational activities.
Required Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license.
Desire to work in a human services field and care for at‑risk youth.
Ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges.
Open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering language, traditions, and values.
Successfully pass a ODHS criminal background check.
Successfully complete a three‑part Nonviolent Crisis Intervention exam and training.
Physical Demands
Assist staff in physical interventions and restraints of clients.
Lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Stand and walk for extended periods (2‑4 hours).
Twist, bend, and stretch in a manner conducive to daily activities within a residential treatment facility.
