General Summary
Medical Assistant II (MA II) supports the delivery of urological services, performs routine administrative and clinical tasks, and functions as an effective member of the interdisciplinary team.

Essential Job Functions

Perform various administrative and clinical duties under the direction of the assigned direct supervisor.

Coordinate and schedule appointments of patients with physicians, nursing, and other staff.

Take responsibility for approximately 50 % of daily work time in additional office duties.

Greet and prepare patients, measure and record vital signs, and document interview, history, and chief complaint.

Provide patient education regarding medications, disease management, home treatments, and special diets.

Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests.

Assist physicians with examinations.

Perform phlebotomy and collect other laboratory specimens; conduct basic laboratory tests.

Perform EKGs.

Assist with X‑ray and physician therapy procedures.

Prepare and administer medications with physician authorization.

Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and perform other first‑aid procedures.

Use CPR skills when necessary.

Prepare accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.

Open the office in the morning and close it in the afternoon.

Maintain patient logs for lab requests, CT scans, and other treatment orders.

Maintain prescription ledger when needed.

Ensure the back office has good flow, keep rooms full, and assist with room turnover.

Perform new‑patient thorough work‑up, including x‑rays, vitals, and new‑patient packet explanation.

Add medical history for new patients and accurately update established patients’ history.

Set up rooms accurately for physicians.

Ensure all patient medication records are updated before physician visits.

Set up for in‑office surgical procedures.

Ensure consent forms are completed correctly and avoid excessive medical abbreviations.

Scribe as assigned per physician office flow.

Prepare for patients the following day, including confirmation for next‑day visits.

Complete patient medical record requests when necessary.

Assist in the orientation and training of new personnel.

Assist with other administrative projects and tasks as needed.

Ensure proper hand‑off of responsibilities once tasks are completed.

Meet established attendance criteria, arrive promptly, and be dependable for assigned shifts.

Respect and acknowledge the organization’s commitment to cultural diversity through behavior, language, and actions.

Demonstrate good use of time and resources.

Adhere to HR and corporate policies and procedures.

Ensure all medical records are accurate and complete for all patients.

Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, medical laws, and high ethical standards.

Support compliance and accreditation efforts, including OSHA, HIPAA, and CMS guidelines on parts C & D, general compliance, and fraud, waste & abuse.

Perform other position‑related duties as assigned.

Certifications, Licensures or Registry Requirements

Medical Assistant Certification or Registration preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Excellent organizational skills and ability to perform well in stressful situations.

Knowledge of healthcare system operations such as EMR and practice management solutions.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.

Project management experience.

Vendor relations skills (for MA’s required to order office and clinical supplies).

Database management skills.

Strong problem‑solving skills.

Proficiency with computer programs and applications, including Microsoft Office.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Deliver exceptional patient service throughout all interactions.

Attention to detail.

Compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.

Requirements

Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience, based on state regulation requirements.

6 months of experience working within a physician’s office desired; urology experience preferred.

Minimal travel required.
