
Associate Design Engineer II, Mechanical

Job Description
This position supports the Area Lead or Mechanical Lead on assigned projects as a Responsible Engineer (RE) on the project team handling moderately difficult mechanical process equipment packages, assignments and performing routine aspects of engineering.
Establish equipment requirements and prepare equipment data sheets for mechanical process equipment including unfired and fired heat transfer equipment, packaged equipment, pressure vessels, pumps and compressors, and custom equipment skid packages
Provide equipment sizing and application support to project development or process
Review Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for alignment with equipment requirements
Develop and revise equipment lists, narrative specifications, equipment standards, equipment general arrangement and outline drawings
Cross-check Mechanical equipment list with P&IDs and equipment data sheets
Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement
Assist in the review of vendor lists, preparation of quotation requests, bid tabulations, purchase orders, and considerations for substitutions for technical acceptability
Participate in supplier/contractor bid clarification, negotiation, and/or award meetings
Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution
Basic Job Requirements
Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and one (1) year of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal
ational statutes and guidelines
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Engineer-in-Training achievement status accomplished
Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
Practical field experience
Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
Preferred Qualifications
Applicable Engineering Procurement Construction Management (EPCM) experience
Registered PE
Strong MS Office application experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, etc.)
Autodesk 2D CAD experience
SolidWorks 3D CAD experience
