The Role
General Motors Design Center Fabrication is seeking a Metal Shop Supervisor. Proactively pursue the vision established for the Metal Shop and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. Supervisory responsibility for a medium group of Skilled Trade employees. This work is of a technical nature using independent judgement within the limits of common practices and standards.
What You’ll Do
Understand and consistently administer the GM/UAW National and Local UAW Agreements. Develop, coordinate, and track the DCF property plan for all major property builds, concept properties and fabrication requests
Supervise UAW Skilled Trades Personnel in the construction of Concept/Show Properties. reconciliation of all fabrication requests which include all property and concept vehicle builds
Drive first time quality in the build process of models
Knowledge of specialty/concept vehicle construction – raw materials to finished product
Knowledgeable of the GVDP math deliverable requirements and physical model content
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
BBA or equivalent experience
10 Years of fabrication experience
Experience in engineering, fabrication and build of Concept Vehicles, Exterior/Interior Design Properties and Proof of Concepts
In depth knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes and the ability to articulate and positively influence those processes
Demonstrated ability to lead and personally perform tasks required for show vehicle fabrication, including trouble shooting builds and modifying build strategy in a fluid environment
Excellent technical breadth, organizational, administrative and leadership skills
Expertise in resource and workload planning, tracking and reconciliation
