Position Summary
The Training & Education Coordinator supports the development, delivery, and evaluation of all employee training programs at River Vista. This role ensures staff have the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to provide high-quality, safe, and compliant patient care. The coordinator manages training logistics, maintains accurate education records, assists with onboarding, and helps ensure the organization meets regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities
Teaching Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR (American Heart Association) classes.
Teaching Verbal De‑Escalation.
Coordinating, scheduling, and organizing employee training sessions, workshops, and continuing education programs.
Supporting training plans, competency assessments, and department‑specific education.
Assisting with onboarding and orientation for new hires.
Working closely with the CNO, ACNO, Nursing Educator, and HR Director to review current education and training needs.
Ensuring education files comply with UHS, State, Federal, and accreditation requirements.
Recommending improvements to training programs as needed or as identified.
Coordinating, scheduling, and organizing employee training sessions and 90‑day refresher courses.
Maintaining accurate training records.
Coordinating with HR to ensure compliance of education files.
Preparing reports on training completion rates and compliance audits.
Assisting in creating and updating training materials and digital resources.
Partnering with subject matter experts to develop learning content.
Coordinating certifications (CPI & CPR) tracking.
Managing classroom scheduling and virtual training.
Coordinating presenters, presentations, and professional development events.
Supporting education fairs, safety weeks, and staff development initiatives.
Serving as a resource for training requirements and Health Stream/LMS navigation.
Communicating training announcements and compliance updates.
Providing administrative support during trainings.
Adhering to facility policies, departmental, corporate, personnel, and standard procedures.
Attending all mandatory facility in‑services and staff development activities as scheduled.
Maintaining confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.
Supporting facility‑wide quality and performance improvement goals and objectives.
Demonstrating the highest level of Service Excellence and adhering to the River Vista Behavioral Health/UHS Professional Code of Conducts.
Qualifications
Education:
Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of two (2) years of direct experience preferred in a psychiatric or mental health setting, with direct experience in staff education, education concepts, practices, and procedures.
Certification:
CPR & CPI Instructor certification. Phlebotomy license required.
Additional Requirements:
Complete knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, restraint, and seclusion, and ability to prepare and present training events as directed for Nursing Services. Knowledge of phlebotomy and EKG processes. May be required to work occasional weekends and/or other hours; conduct weekend training as needed. Strong organizational skills.
