
Direct Support Professional (DSP) Afternoons and Weekends

What will you be doing?
A DSP provides services to individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and out in the community.
Teaching individuals how to complete a given task.
Assisting the individuals with daily living activities, including housekeeping, meal and menu prep, grocery shopping, day‑to‑day finances, etc.
Assisting the individuals with personal hygiene: bathing, grooming, dressing and undressing, feeding, toileting and positioning when necessary.
Providing transportation for the individual to delegated activities such as doctor appointments, outings into the community, shopping and vacations.
Documenting and administering medication and health‑related tasks.
Reporting to your supervisor any suspected need for medical attention, evidence of abuse, neglect, and other health and safety issues.
Gaining trust and becoming a friend; they see you as someone they can trust, potentially an extended family.

Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
18 years of age or older
Valid Driver’s License (with less than six (6) points).
Reliable transportation with current proof of state minimum auto insurance; most positions require use of personal automobile during work hours.
