Position Overview
Charter College is seeking a Part-Time Adjunct Nursing Instructor to join our Anchorage, AK campus. This role is responsible for delivering course instruction to nursing students in accordance with Charter College’s policies and academic standards.
This position reports directly to the Program Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver lectures, labs, and clinical instruction based on established curriculum.
Maintain up-to-date lesson plans and instructional materials.
Monitor and document student attendance, participation, and performance.
Grade and return assignments with constructive feedback in a timely manner.
Provide academic support during scheduled office hours or by appointment.
Participate in student retention efforts; identify and support at-risk students.
Advise students on academic and school-related matters.
Maintain communication with the Program Manager on all student-related issues.
Attend mandatory meetings and serve on committees as assigned.
Maintain professional appearance and conduct.
Ensure adherence to school policies and academic guidelines.
Perform other related duties as assigned by leadership.
Specialty Areas (Preferred Experience)
First preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following areas:
Medical/Surgical
Leadership
Pharmacology
Pediatrics
OB/GYN
Mental Health
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Required)
MSN preferred
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience (Required)
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Required)
Compensation & Course Details
Pay Per Course: $3,150 – $3,850
Based on experience, education, and subject matter expertise
Course Length: 10 weeks
Includes 60 hours of in-class instruction + 10 hours for grading
Employment Type: Part-Time, Temporary
Work Location: On campus (Anchorage, AK)
Conditions of Employment
Compensation is tied to course assignment and subject to enrollment minimums.
Courses may be reassigned or canceled due to staffing needs or enrollment changes.
Adjuncts are expected to meet all scheduled classes and reschedule if canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.
Adjuncts are not expected to perform non-teaching duties (e.g., program development, textbook selection) without prior approval.
Grade records must be maintained and submitted on time.
Teaching performance will be evaluated through student feedback and other institutional tools.
Adjuncts may teach at other Charter College campuses or online if qualified and approved.
