Job Summary
To instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success while also promoting socially acceptable character development, self‑discipline, self‑confidence, and student pride. The coach must continually upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.
Essential Functions
Organize and supervise a total sports program.
Enjoy working with this age level.
Teach and demonstrate skill development and advanced technique.
Assist in coordinating and supporting an off‑season program.
Collaborate with local recreation programs to increase participation at lower levels and high school.
Serve as a positive role model.
Maintain reliable work attendance.
Qualifications
Coaching endorsement or certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of all athletic policies.
Substantial technical knowledge of the sport.
Knowledge of system, state, and league regulations; implements and interprets them consistently for staff.
Good communication skills.
Understanding of administrative line of command and proper grievance procedures.
An awareness of required public, staff, or departmental meetings.
Travel Requirements
Travel to district buildings and sporting events as required.
Physical Requirements
Mobility, bending, talking, hearing, operating computer, remaining in a stationary position, balancing, lifting up to 25 pounds, operating a motor vehicle.
Working Conditions
District office hours, evenings during season, indoors or outdoors depending on sport.
Weekends occasional.
