Description
The district is seeking a full time Athletic Trainer at Ramapo High School for the 2026-2027 school year.
Responsibilities
Provide on-site athletic training coverage for practices, games, tournaments, and events (including evenings and weekends as needed)
Perform injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for student-athletes
Develop and implement individualized treatment and return-to-play protocols in collaboration with physicians and coaches
Administer emergency care and first aid as needed; maintain emergency action plans
Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, and progress notes in compliance with HIPAA and district policies
Conduct pre-participation physical screenings and baseline concussion testing
Educate coaches, athletes, and parents on injury prevention, nutrition, hydration, and safe training practices
Collaborate with the athletic director, coaches, school nurses, and medical providers
Oversee inventory and maintenance of athletic training room supplies and equipment
Ensure compliance with NJSIAA, NJDOE, and district policies regarding athletic training and student safety
Participate in professional development and maintain current certifications
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Certification as required by the New Jersey Department of Education.
Demonstrated knowledge of sport, sports training and conditioning, injury prevention and management, and principles of human growth and development.
Ability to maintain a positive learning environment and high standards for conduct for athletes.
Ability to communicate effectively with administration, staff, students, parents, and the public at large.
Receives training in and maintains valid current CPR and AED certificates.
Strong knowledge of concussion management, NJSIAA policies, and evidence-based athletic training practices.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel with athletic teams.
Compensation
This is a 10-month, independent position with a salary to be determined by the Board of Education. Hours aligned with sports schedules throughout each season.
