Position:

Upper School Head Soccer Coach (Part-time Seasonal)

Reports to:

Tyler Francis, Athletic Director

Location: University Place, Washington

Charles Wright Academy is a co‑educational, non‑religious independent school located in University Place, WA. The 107‑acre campus includes athletic fields and forested areas that serve as an extension of the academic campus. The school provides a college‑preparatory curriculum, experiential learning, and numerous opportunities in athletics, arts, travel, and service.

Responsibilities

Lead and grow the high school girls’ soccer program and oversee the middle school soccer program.

Build a competitive program, develop student‑athletes, and foster athletic and academic balance.

Recruit, mentor, and support a soccer coaching staff and volunteers.

Create a community around soccer and promote sportsmanship, character, and teamwork.

Maintain records, schedules, and compliance with league and school policies.

What We're Looking For

Coaching experience (high school preferred).

Strong leadership and program‑building mindset.

Ability to mentor and develop student‑athletes through soccer.

Willingness to support the youth soccer program and coaching staff.

Capacity to build a strong, collaborative staff.

Commitment to sportsmanship, character, and academic balance.

Qualifications

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Knowledge of soccer rules and ability to coach all positions.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with interruptions.

Ability to relate well to a variety of constituencies (faculty, parents, and students).

Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.

Desire to aid students, families, and colleagues.

Compensation
Coaching stipend: $6,000 (plus opportunities for $2,500 for middle school soccer coaching positions).
