Site Safety Specialist
Job Locations: US-ME-Eastbrook
Overview
Responsible for assisting the Safety Managers in all safety related matter and ensure compliance with federal, state, and corporate environmental, health and safety regulations are met. Responsible for safety functions, in the field, necessary to support the company construction at an assigned jobsite. Conduct specialized safety trainings (fall protection, confined space, etc.), job safety analysis, workplace audits and incident responses as needed.
Location & Travel Details: You'll get the opportunity to travel across the US, helping our team build renewable projects. This is a traveling position, up to 100% of the time. You have the potential to be placed on a project site located in any state throughout the US. You'll spend 8-12 months on average per project. We offer designated daily per diem in addition to base pay to support and help you cover living expenses. This position is eligible for routine travel home (rotation) from the jobsite.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and present safety training to support the company and client requirements, including planning, documentation, and presentation. This will include: New Hire Orientation, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory, etc.
Understand the OSHA regulations and how they are applied
Recognize and track hazardous situations on the job site and working with Safety Managers to mitigate satisfactorily
Complete daily site walks to identify and document onsite safety risks or discrepancies
Provide Safety Leadership creating enthusiasm and participation among management and craft workers, resulting in excellent safety performance
Gather details, provide input and review incident reports
Assist in the execution of the jobsite safety plans
Understand and implement lockout/tagout procedures in a safe manner
Communicate with the company management regarding safety matters
Complete drug screen collections as needed
Assist Safety Manager with incident investigations
Understand and implement the site-specific emergency response plan
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required
Must obtain STSC within one year of position entry date
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the company's Zero Injury principles
Functional computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Type and write reports with accuracy and appropriate grammar
Strong written and oral communication skills
Must have knowledge of hazard recognition, record keeping and injury management skills, and written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
Ability to perform safety inspections ensuring compliance with the company and OSHA standards
Working Environment:
Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and extreme heat
Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
