The Big Picture
Palouse Federated Church seeks a full‑time Senior Pastor to lead and “equip his people for works of service” (Ephesians 4:12). We want a pastor who will help us grow and develop to serve our members and the communities where they live, and who will help us reach a larger group of individuals in Palouse and surrounding communities. We are praying that this person will align with our vision for the future of PFC.
Qualifying Characteristics
Communication Skills
Excellent preaching skills delivering Bible‑based, Spirit‑inspired messages with everyday application.
Preaching that challenges people to respond and grow in their faith.
Great interpersonal communication skills, especially active listening.
Education
Graduate degree in divinity.
Knowledge of Biblical history, language, and culture to provide context in teaching.
Connection with Congregants
Walk alongside congregants as they grow in faith, assisting all saints in discerning their path toward spiritual growth.
Comfortable in interpersonal exchange; willing to “visit with folks.”
Leadership
Lead the church in continuing and further development of the vision and mission of PFC.
Guide the development of congregants’ gifts to prepare them to actively engage in the mission and outreach of PFC.
Responsibilities
Leadership and collaboration in planning worship services and delivering Sunday morning sermons.
Delivery of Sunday afternoon sermons at Bishop Place.
Provide leadership and support in the growth and development of mission and outreach work.
Supervise part‑time staff.
Maintain regular office hours weekly.
Officiate at weddings, funerals, and baptisms.
Participate in governance of the church, serving as an ex‑officio member of the board, reporting at quarterly and annual meetings.
Benefits
Cash salary in the range of $42,000 to $46,000, depending on education and experience.
Housing at the church‑owned parsonage (equivalent to $1,900 per month rent), including utilities (garbage, water, sewer, electrical, cable/internet) equivalent to $2,500 annually, maintenance.
Health insurance and retirement contributions.
Continuing education reimbursement ($1,000 annually).
Ministry support reimbursement ($2,000 annually) (mileage, conferences, books, cell phone).
Paid time off – 4 work weeks annually.
Consideration of a summer sabbatical after multiple years of employment.
