Overview
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Chicago provides comprehensive clinical services and engages in cutting‑edge research. The department has 136 clinical providers and serves more than 68,000 outpatient visits annually. Its research enterprise covers population health studies, tumor biology, fibroid research, and hypertensive diseases in pregnancy, as well as innovations in reproductive health at the CI3 research center.
Job Summary
The Temporary Research Assistant provides basic technical support activities related to scientific research projects. The role complies with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, assists in drafting presentations on research findings, and supports laboratory operations under direction.
Responsibilities
Assist with planning, development, and execution of laboratory research.
Help organize laboratory activities and workflows.
Collaborate with team members and external collaborators.
Assist in the management of the animal colony and conduct animal experiments.
Conduct periodic training for new and existing laboratory members.
Contribute to writing academic papers, reports, and final summaries.
Collect, record, and analyze data.
Perform basic analyses and research focusing on tumor microenvironment in carcinogenesis.
Provide technical and administrative support in a basic laboratory setting.
Collect data, enter it into databases, and assist in the preparation of manuscripts and reports.
Perform other related work as needed.

Flexibility to adjust research focus as needed
Education and Experience
High school diploma required.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the research (e.g., biology, cell biology, cancer biology) preferred.
Entry‑level work experience preferred.
Experience or interest in relevant research area preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Ability to sit in front of a computer for extended periods.
Standard office environment.
Lab work environment.
