The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.
Essential Job Functions
Program & Vehicle Operations
Safely drive the HOP mobile medical unit (40 ft RV) to and from assigned service locations, ensuring timely and safe transport.
Oversee setup and breakdown of the unit at sites; maintain cleanliness and readiness of the vehicle.
Monitor and complete scheduled maintenance (weekly, monthly, annual); maintain accurate maintenance records.
Oversee daily operations of the HOP program, including scheduling, site coordination, and community/provider relations.
Serve as liaison between the Stout Street Health Center and community HOP sites.
Training & Staff Support
Oversee training and orientation for new Client Access Representatives and HOP staff, including scheduling, insurance verification, phones, and EHR use.
Shadow and coach new hires to ensure task accuracy and provide constructive feedback.
Empower staff to troubleshoot issues independently using established training resources and standard work.
Maintain and update the HOP training manual; train staff on mobile unit operations and safe driving practices.
Clinic Flow & Coverage
Facilitate client flow through active schedule management; support opening and closing of assigned clinics.
Provide coverage for staff shortages, including breaks, lunches, and vacations.
Assist the HOP Program Manager with provider and staff scheduling.
Client Communication & Services
Communicate with clients via phone, patient portal, or email to address concerns and inquiries.
Assist patients with scheduling and navigation to Stout Street Health Center services not accessible on the HOP.
Actively participate in identifying homeless and at-risk individuals/families and connecting them with health and community resources.
Facilitate access to behavioral health and other integrated health services.
Medical Assistant Support (as trained/credentialed)
Record patient demographics, medical histories, vitals, and chief complaints in the EHR.
Perform venipuncture, obtain specimens, and conduct laboratory tests (e.g., urinalysis, HCG, hematocrits, glucoses).
Conduct basic medical office procedures (pulse oximetry, peak flow, EKG, hearing/vision screening).
Administer immunizations per clinic protocol; document in NextGen/CIIS.
Assist providers and Behavioral Health Professionals with patient check‑ins, assessments, and care.
Ensure accurate documentation of all visits and patient histories in the EHR.
Administrative Support & Compliance
Support revenue cycle functions, including insurance verifications and billing corrections.
Assist management with audit follow‑up, special projects, and operational implementation.
Order and maintain medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and stock levels for the mobile unit.
Ensure adherence to OSHA, HIPAA, and organizational safety standards.
Maintain compliance with COVID‑19 vaccination requirements, as defined by CDC and local health authorities.
Ensure timely & accurate use of all company systems as required while maintaining complete, up‑to‑date records.
Perform other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications Summary
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certification in Basic Life Support (CPR) required.
EMT or Medical Assistant (MA) certification required.
Experience
Minimum of 1 year of customer service or front desk experience in a medical office setting required.
At least 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a hospital or large clinical setting preferred; experience with underserved or indigent populations strongly preferred.
1 year of administrative or program coordination experience required; nonprofit experience preferred.
Large RV or vehicle driving experience strongly preferred.
Job Competencies
Proficiency in EHR and medical office software; commitment to continuous learning.
Strong organizational skills, with ability to manage scheduling, logistics, and supply inventory.
Effective communication and relationship‑building skills with diverse and marginalized populations.
Ability to train, mentor, and support staff in both clinical and administrative tasks.
Strong problem‑solving and multitasking abilities in a fast‑paced environment.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Additional Requirement
Valid driver’s license required. This requirement may be waived, if necessary, based on overall candidate experience and current needs of the business.
