
Chassis Mobile Mechanic (Road Service)

The Chassis Mobile Mechanic will perform mechanical repairs and inspections in a depot/repair facility environment, repairs to be performed in a shop setting. The employee will perform all types of chassis repairs including brakes and wheel end repairs, welding, cutting with a torch and repairing and replacing parts on the chassis using standard repair tools. Repairs will be performed to FMCSA standards and completed based on written estimates.
Duties And Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair all chassis defects
Including ABS systems; air brake systems, wheels end, and structural assemblies
Some welding and fabrication of chassis
Use of mobile app to log work orders and document repairs
Use of a mobile truck to drive to locations and complete repairs to DCLI chassis. (valid driver’s license)
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
At least 2 years of experience in trailer/chassis mechanics, usage and customary repair methods
FMCSA and brake certifications required
Knowledge in welding MIG and/or ARC welding, torch use
Knowledge of AAR, IICL and DOT rules and criteria
Ability to work in a shop environment primarily with the possibility of some mobile repairs
Ability to work independently, efficiently and without direct supervision
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Must be willing to work all shifts as required with the potential to work weekends depending on seasonal demand
Capable of lifting 50 lbs
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office products and phone apps for work order processing
Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving history.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
