Position Summary
Responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machines within the machine shop to support production requirements while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Position Responsibilities
Set up and operate manual and automated equipment including lathes, milling machines, economy pointer machines, slotting machines, air chamber equipment, fillet rolling machines, Traub machines, thread rolling (die) machines, drill press, automatic pin machines, button die and countersink (C-sink) equipment, cut‑off saws, chop‑off presses.
Perform machine adjustments and basic troubleshooting to ensure efficient operation.
Maintain quality standards by following established procedures and specifications.
Utilize precision measuring tools: dial calipers, micrometers, SPC systems.
Inspect parts to ensure compliance with specifications and tolerances.
Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications – Education/Experience
High school diploma or GED required; or a minimum of five years of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and communicate effectively with customers and employees.
Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Problem‑solving skills and ability to apply common sense in written, oral, or diagram forms.
Working Environment
The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and works in moderate noise levels.
Physical Demands
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
Requires close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Salary
$15.80 – $25.90 per hour
