Job Summary
The Pediatric LPN will provide direct patient care to children requiring tracheostomy, ventilator support, and G-J tube feeding in a home health, hospital, or clinical setting. The nurse will work closely with registered nurses (RNs), physicians, and respiratory therapists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and manage tracheostomy and ventilator equipment, ensuring proper function and patient safety.
Perform suctioning, oxygen therapy, and airway clearance techniques as needed.
Administer medications and treatments per physician orders.
Manage G-J tube feedings, including formula administration, flushing, and troubleshooting complications.
Assess and document patient condition, including vital signs, respiratory status, and nutritional intake.
Educate and support families on trach, ventilator, and G-J tube care, emergency procedures, and daily management.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Respond to emergencies, including trach dislodgement, ventilator alarms, and G-J tube complications.
Maintain infection control standards and ensure a safe environment for the patient.
Qualifications
Valid LPN license in the state of practice.
Experience with pediatric trach, ventilator, and G-J tube care (preferred, but training may be provided).
CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
Excellent communication and family education skills.
Work Environment
Home health care, pediatric hospitals, long-term care facilities, or outpatient clinics.
Flexible scheduling, including day, night, and weekend shifts.
