About The Opportunity
The Teller role is a client-focused position responsible for interacting with customers and delivering a high level of customer service by processing transactions, promoting the bank’s products, and maintaining accurate cash balances.
Duties And Responsibilities
Customer Service
Adheres to service standards and expectations.
Answers branch phone and electronic inquiries according to Bank etiquette.
Provides service to all customers, following service guidelines.
Maintains positive relationships with customers and employees.
Sales
Meets or exceeds monthly sales goals for assigned products and services.
Demonstrates in-depth product knowledge.
Identifies cross‑selling opportunities and makes referrals.
Operational Responsibilities
Organizes and balances the cash drawer daily.
Follows policy for deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, tax payments, traveler’s checks, cash advances, etc.
Safeguards customer information and adheres to the Privacy Policy.
Follows branch security and opening/closing procedures.
Performs proper batching, re‑verification, and records accurate account numbers.
Completes all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School degree or GED required.
Excellent customer service and oral communication skills.
Previous cash handling or teller experience preferred.
Previous retail experience preferred.
Bilingual in Spanish/English or Polish/English preferred at select locations.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
The role is conducted in an office setting with frequent sitting, walking, and standing. Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and balancing are required. The position involves frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination with office equipment. Candidates must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
Compensation & Benefits
The targeted hourly range is $18.00 to $20.00. Byline Bank offers competitive salary bands, medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), paid time off, and discretionary bonuses. The compensation package may vary based on skill set, experience, and location.
