Sheet Metal Mechanic.

Responsibilities

Develop patterns, lay out, form, join, assemble, and install items and systems such as heating, air‑conditioning, and ventilation pipes, conduits, gutters, ducts, and flashing.

Handle items and systems with combined straight and curved edges, irregular curves and planes, and varying pitches or circumferences.

Operate complex hand‑ and power‑machines used in sheet metal work.

Conditions of Employment

Subject to a suitability or fitness determination based on a completed background investigation.

Must pass a pre‑employment physical and annually thereafter.

May be required to respond to emergency calls and report to work during emergency situations.

Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license in one of the 50 U.S. states or territories.

Required to perform up to 10% temporary duty travel (TDY).

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to perform the work of a Sheet Metal Mechanic, including pattern development, cutting, forming, joining, assembling, and installing heating, air‑conditioning, and ventilation systems, without more than normal supervision.

Physical exertion is considerable, with frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and prolonged standing, climbing, and working in cramped positions.

Work both indoors and outdoors in moderate noise and vibration; possible exposure to cuts, bruises, falls, and burns.

Education
No education qualification required.

Citizenship
U.S. citizenship required. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a pre‑employment selective service registration. Proof of U.S. citizenship will be required.
