Position
MRI Technologist • $5,000 Sign-on Bonus for Experienced Candidates • Full Time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift
Responsibilities
Performs procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed medical practitioner for diagnostic interpretation or therapeutic intervention.
Operates high field strength magnets and related equipment to produce high quality MRI images; selects and operates the MRI system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices and associated equipment.
Selects appropriate pulse sequences in accordance with protocols; evaluates MRI scans for technical quality; ensures complete MRI exams are documented in the electronic medical record and sent to PACS.
Maintains four MRI safety zones per ACR guidelines; ensures timely high quality MRI scans while minimizing risk to patient, self and others; assists radiologist in developing new protocols and imaging techniques.
Identifies and screens patients according to MRI safety guidelines; obtains patient history and ensures accurate consents; provides patient education and monitors patients during exams to minimize anxiety.
Positions patients and equipment to optimize visualization of the anatomic area of interest; applies infection prevention techniques and universal precautions.
Prepares and/or administers medications as prescribed for MRI procedures (contrast media as needed); performs venipuncture or injections within scope of practice; operates contrast injection equipment as required.
Assists radiologist with MRI procedures (e.g., biopsies) and ensures time-out procedures are followed.
Coordinates scheduling and patient flow; maintains clerical accuracy and assists in inventory control.
Educates, trains, or orients new staff and student technologists; stays current in Basic Life Support (BLS) and performs BLS as needed.
Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards; completes required education annually; participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the license or certification required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
Must have successfully completed an educational program that is accredited by ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists).
Licensure Requirement:
Must have and maintain one of the following paths:
Path 1 : ARRT (R) and within 1 year ARRT (MR)
Path 2 : NMTCB certification or equivalency ARRT (N) and within one year ARRT (MR) required
Path 3 : ARDMS (Sonography) and within one year ARRT (MR) required
Path 4 : ARMRIT certification required
