Responsibilities
Champion Safety: prioritize safety in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
Oversee Projects: conduct analysis of customer and job specifications, assist in new product development, and supervise special or high‑visibility projects.
Train QC Personnel: instruct lab and field testing procedures.
Conduct Testing: inspect, sample, and perform routine and special laboratory testing on construction materials.
Review Test Results: monitor, document, and adjust blends; communicate results to supervisors and QC database.
Prepare Reports: create submittals for products and statistical quality reports.
Troubleshoot: address field and job‑site problems, inspect material sources, and resolve specifications issues.
Champion Continuous Improvement: stay current on professional and technical developments to enhance performance.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Five years of construction materials testing experience preferred; knowledge of aggregates, asphalt, and ready‑mix concrete expected.
Expertise in ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT testing procedures and related specifications.
Strong verbal communication with plant personnel, sales, customers, and agency representatives.
Proficiency in statistical analysis, mathematics, and engineering concepts; skilled with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Oracle Business Environment, and related software.
Time‑management skills to perform testing accurately and efficiently.
Willingness to work overtime and extended hours; ability to work outdoors in various weather and noise conditions.
Valid driver’s license.
