What We Are Looking For
NextCare Urgent Care is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Medical Assistant who is comfortable working in a fast‑paced setting and in a team environment. We seek customer‑friendly and passionate employees who view patients and employees as our top priorities.

Responsibilities

Assist provider with exams (including patient vitals), procedures and other processes related to direct patient care under direct supervision of the Provider and within the scope of practice of a Medical Assistant.

Administer all forms of medications per policy and Provider direction and adhere to all safety protocols and procedures for medication administration.

Perform blood draws as directed by the Provider.

May be responsible for urine collection for various testing, including employer drug screens.

May perform splinting and casting.

Conduct various types of physicals such as sports physicals.

Perform other related duties specific to urgent care such as ear lavage, wound care and oxygen administration.

Notify the provider on duty promptly of all unusual patient occurrences, including medication events on an incident report.

Promptly notify the Clinic Manager of patient or employee safety concerns.

Follow guidelines and requirements of laboratory and clinical accreditation policies.

Be proficient in EMR/EHR.

Perform other related duties as assigned or described by Company policy.

As a Medical Assistant, you may also support front office reception. When working in the front office you will perform duties such as keeping patients and families informed of wait times, monitoring patient flow, processing patients for discharge including preparing charges, collecting payment, obtaining all necessary signatures and issuing receipts.

The Medical Assistant supports the organization with customer service and treats all patients with respect and dignity. They ensure the clinic and front reception area runs smoothly and that patient flow is optimized, while providing patient care services in the back office medical setting to meet the specific needs of each patient.

Essential Education, Experience And Skills
Education:

Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent; AND

Completed an approved (accredited) Medical Assistant training program.

Completed an unapproved (non‑accredited) Medical Assistant training program AND a National Certification through one of the following: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) – Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam; American Medical Technologists (AMT) – Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam; or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam.

Completed an unapproved medical assistant training program and was employed as a medical assistant for one (1) year or more after program completion OR has verifiable work experience directly supervised by a Provider or Physician Group for a minimum of 2,000 hours or 1 year.

Other MA education or experience may be considered upon review and approval from our Compliance and Regulatory department.
