
Pharmacy Assistant, Outpatient, Part Time, Variable Shift

Responsibilities
The Pharmacy Assistant – Outpatient shall perform the following non-judgmental duties involved in working in a retail environment under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist: obtaining patient information specific to creating an electronic patient profile, obtaining prescription insurance information and accurately entering it in the pharmacy system, checking that information on a prescription is complete and legible at the time of drop‑off, stocking, ordering, and updating inventory according to established processes, preparing medical insurance claims, directing clinical patient questions to the pharmacist for consultation, properly and accurately ringing out the patient, informing the Pharmacist when there is a new prescription being picked up that requires consultation, and other tasks as assigned by the Pharmacist-in-Charge or Pharmacist-on-Duty. The assistant shall maintain an ethical, professional behavior that ensures efficient, accurate, timely distribution and control of medications dispensed through the Outpatient Pharmacy, keep current on Federal and State regulations as they pertain to pharmacy in a retail setting, and maintain a positive attitude representing the pharmacy and the entire hospital.
Required Skills
Possess a proficient level of computer, verbal/written communications, and ability to prioritize is required.
Able to effectively read, write, and speak English fluently.
Able to perform cashiering duties accurately and independently.
Required Experience
A minimum of one (1) year of working experience as a pharmacy clerk/assistant in a community/retail setting and experience with pharmacy systems/processes and cashiering experience is preferred.
Experience using Microsoft applications and the Pharmacy application FSI is preferred.
