Floor Scrubber – Second Shift

Job Description
This position is responsible for operating a riding floor scrubber and performing general cleaning and labor tasks to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient manufacturing environment on second shift. The role suits someone who works well independently, takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and is willing to support production and facility needs with additional duties as required.

Responsibilities

Operate a riding floor scrubber throughout the facility to keep production floors clean, debris‑free, and safe.

Perform routine janitorial and custodial tasks, including sweeping, mopping, trash removal, and general housekeeping in production and common areas.

Monitor floor and facility conditions and proactively address spills, debris, and other safety hazards to reduce risk of accidents.

Assist with basic general labor tasks such as material handling, organizing work areas, and supporting production and packaging teams when needed.

Support assembly and production areas by helping maintain orderly, clean, and accessible workspaces.

Conduct basic checks on cleaning equipment, including the riding floor scrubber, and promptly report any maintenance or mechanical issues.

Follow all safety procedures, guidelines, and facility rules while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members about cleaning schedules, priorities, and facility needs.

Respond to cleaning requests and changing priorities throughout the shift to support ongoing operations.

Maintain reliable attendance and be willing to perform additional duties as assigned to support overall facility cleanliness and productivity.

Essential Skills

At least 1+ years of janitorial experience.

Ability to operate or quickly learn to operate industrial cleaning equipment such as riding floor scrubbers.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively across multiple tasks.

Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with active production and material handling.

Strong attention to detail and a high standard of cleanliness and organization.

Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform standing, walking, bending, and other physical tasks throughout the shift.

Reliable attendance and dependability for second shift work.

Willingness to support additional duties as assigned to assist production, packaging, and general labor needs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Previous experience operating scrubbers, floor cleaning machines, or other industrial cleaning equipment is preferred.

Background in custodial, housekeeping, or general labor roles in manufacturing, assembly, or production settings is beneficial.

Experience with packaging or production support tasks is a plus.

Basic mechanical awareness to recognize and report equipment issues promptly.

Strong communication skills to coordinate with supervisors and team members about facility and cleaning needs.

Demonstrated commitment to safety and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing facility on second shift, with hours that may vary based on operational needs. It involves frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs, as well as regular operation of a riding floor scrubber and other cleaning tools. The environment includes typical manufacturing conditions such as noise from machinery and movement of materials. Work attire should be practical and suitable for a production and cleaning setting, with appropriate footwear and any required safety gear provided by the facility. The role emphasizes adherence to safety procedures, cleanliness standards, and maintaining an organized workspace throughout the shift.

Job Type & Location
Contract to Hire position based out of Montgomery, AL.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $14.00 – $16.00 per hour.
