Job Overview
Provide first assistant support during perioperative procedures as part of the perioperative support services team, working closely with the surgeon and operating room staff to ensure patient safety and surgical excellence.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities
Act as a first assistant in the operating room, demonstrating required knowledge and skills for procedures where a first assistant is utilized.
Assist the surgeon during all phases of the surgical procedure, providing instruments, maintaining sterility, and ensuring patient safety.
Collaborate with circulating and scrub nurses to coordinate patient positioning, scrub technique, and operative instruments.
Communicate effectively with the surgical team and other healthcare professionals on the operating room floor.
Follow all institutional policies and procedures related to perioperative nursing and patient care.
Qualifications
ASN or Nursing Diploma.
Five years nursing experience with at least three years as a competent scrub and circulating nurse in the operating room.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Proficient computer skills.
Preferred
BSN degree.
Licenses & Certifications Required
Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement.
BLS from the American Heart Association.
CNOR certification.
ACLS certification.
RNFA credential from an accredited institution approved by the Association of Higher Learning or equivalent.
CRNFA credential from an accredited institution approved by the Association of Higher Learning or equivalent.
