Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Development
Must be able to work flexible hours
Preferred bilingual speaking skills; three years teaching/work experience with young children; early childhood education or training
Experience:
Some experience working with children.
Job Goal
To assist in implementing the ECI-DEBT Program in providing a positive climate; assist in ensuring that project goals and objectives are being achieved; to have high expectations of staff, parents, and students; and to assist in monitoring family progress and achievement.
Major Duties
Promotes parent and student learning and achievement by facilitating and/or teaching classes.
Assists in establishing high expectations for student achievement.
Assists in the implementation of a school climate conducive to learning.
Assists in maintaining a high level of student school attendance.
Home Visits: provides integrated instructional services to families, presents child development information and demonstrates appropriate activities, offers informal developmental assessment/screenings.
Maintains on-going files for each family, including written progress reports.
Attends required in-service/staff development.
Maintains emotional control under stress.
Understands and maintains confidentiality.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Even Start Facilitator/Building Principal.

Performance of this job will be appraised in accordance with Board Policy DNA. This job description/appraisal form is the instrument to be used for appraisal of this position. Appraisal is a continuous process designed to improve the quality of performance and may affect the recommendation for employment. A performance scale from 5 to 1 will be utilized.
