Responsibilities
The Admit Discharge Nurse is a registered nurse who functions in a supportive role for the nursing staff and the hospital to assure compliance with regulatory standards for staffing and patient monitoring, and to facilitate patient movement throughout the organization for timely admissions, transfers, and discharges. This role plays a crucial role in patient throughput, thus reducing holds in the ED and creating additional inpatient capacity by assuring timely discharge of patients. Responsibilities include initiating admission assessments, transporting patients from department to department, participating in patient monitoring for tests and procedures, providing discharge teaching, and assuring prompt discharges once a discharge order is received. The role requires strong communication skills, clinical expertise, data analytics, and empathetic responses to monitor and support patients during transport, procedures, and prior to discharge from the facility.

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse licensed to practice in California

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association

Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification by American Heart Association or equivalent

Minimum 3 year clinical experience in an acute care setting (medical-surgical, critical care, or care coordination experience)

Microsoft Suite proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Management of assaultive behavior and de‑escalation techniques within 6 months of hire
