
Dewatering Mechanic

Fort Knox is a cold‑weather heap leach facility located approximately 26 miles from Fairbanks, Alaska. The pit dewatering system is critical to the facility’s mining operations.
Job Summary
Ensure consistent and efficient operation of the pit dewatering system.
Essential Functions
Monitor system operation daily, ensuring each well is operational and checking pipelines and fittings for leaks.
Perform system repairs as necessary.
Monitor all generators daily for operating parameters (volts, amps, hz).
Oversee installation of support equipment and necessary piping.
Work with operations and electricians to coordinate installation or movement of piping.
Maintain an operational inventory of materials.
Ensure daily safety of infrastructure, determining necessary pipeline re‑routes and ensuring well integrity near shot patterns and new excavations.
Ensure all access to infrastructure is available.
Fuse HDPE pipe and construct pipelines using appropriate hardware.
Install and replace pumps as necessary.
Maintain punctuality and regular attendance.
Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
Possess a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct them.
Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications And Skill Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be able to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, including pumps, generators, heat trace, and power requirements.
Ability to operate and service truck and skid steer.
Basic knowledge of submersible pumps.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Self‑starter, able to work with minimum supervision and in a team environment.
Physically able to meet the demands specified in the attached physical demands sheet.
Available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
Progression through wage scale contingent upon satisfactory completion of checklists.
