
Clinical Manager - Jackson Center Outpatient Psychiatry Services - Days

Located in Jackson Ward and the Northside, VCU Ambulatory Psychiatry/Addictions Division Clinics provide care to patients with various psychiatry, psychotherapy, substance use, and psychological needs. Our team treats patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics with sub‑specialties to include mood, thought, and personality disorder/dysfunction, eating disorders, geriatrics, autism spectrum, and psychiatric oncology to name a few. Our clinical team comprised of RNs, CMAs, and MHPs consists of many skill sets and scopes of practice to enhance patient outcomes and experiences. Essential Job Statements
Manages multiple clinics across a geographic region or a specific service line. Clinic may provide complex services (procedures) and/or see high volumes of patients. In collaboration with local clinic leadership develops and implements staffing plans and assures appropriate coverage. Interviews, selects, mentors, and evaluates RNs and potentially other staff. Administers corrective disciplinary action when necessary for all RN staff and for other staff as needed.
Evaluates the delivery of patient care services and implements improvements in collaboration with physicians, clinicians, and other members of the health care team. Ensures ongoing evaluation and continuous improvement of services.
In collaboration with other ambulatory leadership directs the acquisition and allocation of human, material, and financial resources to ensure utilization in an appropriate and cost‑effective manner.
May assist other managers and directors in the development and monitoring of the annual budget to ensure adequate control of financial resources.
Provides direct patient care as needed and assures that clinical skills are maintained as appropriate.
Identifies opportunities and develops and implements plans and services which enhance the VCUHS strategic plan. Participates in the strategic planning for ambulatory services in support of the VCUHS strategic initiatives.
Monitors customer service satisfaction for clinic and takes timely action to address identified issues in collaboration with the leadership teams.
Participates in interdepartmental and VCUHS committees to ensure consistent standards of practice and communication.
Ensures compliance with standards set forth by external licensing, accrediting, and regulatory agencies.
Promotes an environment that promotes educational growth opportunities for nursing staff. (i.e. PAP, specialty certification, support towards advanced degree)
Encourage, facilitate Evidence Based Practice Projects, and disseminate findings.
In collaboration with the clinic leadership coordinates to ensure educational requirements and clinical competencies are maintained for clinical staff.
May serve as an interim operational leader in the absence of local operational leadership.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Management of facility, local vendor contracts, space management in conjunction with ambulatory operational managers.
Management of a building or multiple smaller locations to include facility management, local vendor contracts, space management, staffing plans, supply management, and budgetary responsibilities and clinical quality and outcomes in assigned areas.
Coordination with the MCVP medical school departments on addition of service lines or new providers at a given location.
Partnership with access strategy for given locations to promote access to care.
Management of all regulatory and compliance policies for a given location.
May include reconciliation of charges, denial management and other revenue cycle initiative participation.
Participation in engagement and efficiency initiatives within their assigned locations.

Employment Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited program required.
Preferred Education:
Master's degree preferred.
Licensure/Certification Required:
Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible compact state.
Licensure/Certification Preferred:
Certification in specialty area.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, at least two as an RN. Clinical experience can include CMA, LPN, athletic trainer or other clinical technical roles in health care. 2 years clinical supervisor or other clinical leadership experience.
Management experience in an Ambulatory Environment preferred.
