Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Formulation Chemist to develop chemical formulas for urethanes, polyurethanes, epoxies, silicones, and coatings. This role involves application testing and quality control to ensure products meet customer specifications. The successful candidate will collaborate with the production team to scale up new formulations and assist technical support in resolving customer issues.
Responsibilities
Develop chemical formulas for urethanes, polyurethanes, epoxies, silicones, and coatings.
Perform application testing and quality control tests to ensure product meets customer specifications.
Operate application testing equipment such as universal testers, dispersers, viscometers, and durometers.
Collaborate with the production team to scale up the production of new formulas.
Assist Technical Support groups with customer issues and provide solutions.
Complete technical data sheets to document formula details, production processes, and quality control checks.
Manage multiple projects weekly, including formula development and application testing.
Essential Skills
Experience in formulation chemistry, specifically with urethanes, epoxies, and silicones.
Ability to develop formulas for larger physical products beyond paints and coatings.
Competence in scaling up formulations for production and setting quality control parameters.
Proficiency in troubleshooting technical issues during manufacturing and addressing customer needs.
Practical experience with application testing to assess material durability.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Formulation and application testing
Prior formulation experience outside of academia
Knowledge of polyurethanes, urethanes, and foam technology
Experience in epoxy and coatings chemistry
Skills in physical chemistry blending and product development
Work Environment
This position involves working in a chemistry lab to develop formulas using various instruments and performing related administrative tasks in the office. The role operates on the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30/4:30 p.m., interacting with all organizational levels.
Job Type & Location
Permanent position based out of Brookfield, WI.
Pay and Benefits
Pay range: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00/yr.
Benefits include health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401k match, paid vacation, paid holiday, bonus potential, and end-of-year bonus.
