
Senior Quantity Surveyor

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Energy business on the National Grid Great Grid Partnership (GGP) framework. This high‑profile, nationally significant programme will play a key role in strengthening and future‑proofing the UK’s electricity network.
Working under a long‑term Enterprise Agreement, you will support a diverse portfolio of projects and, as the programme progresses into the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase, will provide direct commercial and contract administration support to GGP project delivery teams.
Role Responsibilities
Take commercial lead within a geographically focused team, providing commercial expertise to support successful delivery of contracted works.
Provide accurate, timely commercial reporting and professional advice to the management team, ensuring commercial objectives and targets are achieved.
Lead subcontract procurement activities, including subcontractor management and final account resolution.
Manage and mentor project commercial staff, supporting development and performance.
Take ownership and accountability for achieving both internal and external project commercial targets.
Engage effectively with project stakeholders, including the Client’s commercial team, fostering strong collaborative relationships.
Ensure accuracy and integrity of all commercial data communicated and reported to internal and external stakeholders.
Identify, manage, and escalate current and potential commercial risks or issues to the leadership team in a timely manner.
Maintain compliance with approved processes, procedures, Project Execution Plans, and Collaborative Management Plans.
Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality and performance of the Quantity Surveying function.
Manage change control processes both upstream and downstream, ensuring commercial impacts are accurately assessed and captured.
Ensure accurate and timely cost reporting, forecasting, and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
Demonstrate awareness and effective use of finance systems, such as COINS.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying (BSc) or an equivalent commercially related discipline.
Chartered status or working towards professional membership of a recognised body such as RICS or CIOB.
Proven experience using contract management systems such as CEMAR, FastDraft, or similar.
Strong working knowledge and practical experience of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts (essential).
Demonstrable supervisory or management experience within a project commercial team environment.
Post‑qualification/industry experience in a commercial or Quantity Surveying role.
Ability to manage a small commercial team while reporting into a more senior commercial lead for strategic and managerial guidance.
