SUMMARY
The Quality Control Inspector I is responsible for performing comprehensive inspections across a range of characteristics—visual, dimensional, and documentation-based—to verify conformance to engineering drawings, internal specifications, and customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform visual, physical, and dimensional inspections of mechanical components and assemblies at various stages of the manufacturing process (first article, in-process, final).

Inspect attribute (e.g., visual defects, surface finish) and variable (e.g., exact dimensional measurements) characteristics per technical documentation.

Use a wide range of precision measurement instruments including micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) as required.

Verify completeness and accuracy of documentation packages including inspection records, material certifications, special process certifications, and work travelers.

Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements with moderate supervision.

Document inspection results clearly and accurately in accordance with internal procedures and applicable standards (e.g., AS9100).

Identify, document, and escalate nonconformities; support quality team in root‑cause investigation and corrective action implementation.

Assist in calibration verification of inspection tools and gauges as needed.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; actively participate in quality and safety improvement initiatives.

Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have the knowledge and experience necessary for the position.

Must be able to follow instructions and procedures and work with minimal supervision.

Must be capable of reading drawings and inspecting the work being performed.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings/blueprints.

Excellent documentation skills.

Good communication and organizational skills.

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and managing files and folders in Windows.

Customer service oriented.

Knowledge of AS9100, AS9102 and AS9145 quality standards (a plus).

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Secondary education (degree, associate’s degree or institutional/vocational training) an asset.

2–4 years of experience in a mechanical inspection, quality control, or related manufacturing role an asset.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to speak and understand basic safety and manufacturing instructions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers. Ability to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Authorization to work in the United States. To conform to U.S. export control regulations, you should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee may be exposed to hot and/or cold work environments, chemicals, fumes or airborne particles, loud noises, risk of electrical shock and vibration and/or other occupational hazards; personal protective equipment may be required.
