Responsibilities

Provide full life‑cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance.

Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.

Support operational issues with ad‑hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including critical equipment, and event support.

Own conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions that add capacity, improve availability, increase efficiency and sustainability.

Interface with internal data center operations, design engineering, server hardware, and environmental health and safety teams to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability.

Develop innovative solutions for AWS’s data centers.

Manage concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.

Initiate and lead engineering audits, including on‑site visits within Amazon’s data centers; produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediations.

Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover.

Qualifications

Strong engineering judgment and ability to provide recommendations despite uncertainty or ambiguity.

Excellent communication and writing skills; attention to detail; high quality standards.

Leadership and problem‑solving skills.

Detail‑ and data‑oriented mindset.

Experience solving problems with engineered solutions.

Experience managing engineering projects and consultants.

Build trust and relationships with stakeholders such as Operations, Controls, Construction, Design, Commissioning, Product Managers, and Technical Program Managers.

Adaptable and willing to work in the field to see things up close.

Excited about a mix of office and field work.

Basic Qualifications

4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, oil and gas).

4+ years of commissioning experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

3+ cumulative years of experience in industrial, municipal, or commercial engineering within sectors such as data centers and power generation.

Valid U.S. driver's license and reliable transportation by start date.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional Engineer license.

Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.

Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.

Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

Basic understanding of mechanical and/or electrical equipment/design related to data centers (e.g., uninterruptable power sources, diesel generators, switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAHs, fans, air economizers, water treatment).

The base salary range for this position is $116,800–$160,000 annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, prescription, life insurance, EAP, mental health support, flexible spending accounts, adoption and surrogacy reimbursement, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
