Software Development Engineer, Nitro Card, Annapurna Labs
Amazon, San Francisco, CA, United States
Annapurna Labs (our organization within AWS UC) designs silicon and software that accelerates innovation. Customers choose us to create cloud solutions that solve challenges that were unimaginable a short time ago—even yesterday. Our custom chips, accelerators, and software stacks enable us to take on technical challenges that have never been seen before, and deliver results that help our customers change the world.
AWS Nitro is the underlying platform for our next generation EC2 instances. Comprised of custom AWS hardware and software that work together to deliver security and performance that is indistinguishable from bare metal.
As part of the Nitro team, you will be a thought leader supporting the ground-up development of key features that will support advanced hardware that offloads and accelerates IO for functions, security chips that enable the most secure cloud platform available today, and lightweight hypervisors that manage memory and CPU allocation, delivering bare‑metal performance at scale.
This role offers a unique blend of hands‑on development and leadership responsibilities. For candidates interested in management, there may be opportunities to transition into a full Software Development Manager role in the future, depending on individual performance and personal career goals. However, this is optional, and the core focus of the position remains on technical leadership and hands‑on development within the AWS Nitro Cards team.
Key Job Responsibilities
Actively contribute to software development across all verticals, from Linux services and drivers, and related applications, Nitro card integration and platform bring‑ups.
Lead a team of 4–5 software developers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and direction.
Balance individual coding responsibilities with team management duties, ensuring both personal and team productivity.
Drive technical decision‑making and architecture design while also overseeing project timelines and deliverables.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders to align development efforts with broader organizational goals.
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to Nitro Cards and AWS infrastructure.
