
Assistant Market Operations Manager (Transportation/Warehouse)

Job Summary
Assist the Market Manager as it relates to the daily operations of a storage center within a designated territory. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, directing day-to-day supervision of a storage center and associates, assisting the Market Manager in meeting customers’ expectations, and maintaining OSHA and preventative maintenance programs for the storage center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure AM SOP compliance for SC Workers
Dispatch and time‑stamping assistance for drivers
Print IF waybills for the day and check IF waybills for the next day
Coordinate with local and IF drivers throughout the day
Develop an efficient plan to pull containers based on needs
Convert containers for drivers
Conduct training and provide guidance to SC workers
Ensure staging for the next day or week
Lead missing container searches and water testing activities
Monitor Samsara software/video and report violations to the Market Manager
Complete any other assigned duties (backup EMT, MM, etc.)
Back up the Market Manager as needed (rotate Sundays/weekends)
Weekly (Bi‑Weekly)
Review and approve payroll each pay‑cycle due date
Submit container repair files
Monitor SC Worker IDP training progress and perform SC worker observations
Coordinate DEF and wiper fluid delivery
Open and interview PARs, onboarding, and other SC recruiting/hiring activities
Monthly
Create and post a monthly SC Worker schedule
Ensure associate certification and OSHA compliance
Maintain a consistent inventory of signs, tools, latches, parts, etc., and assist with ordering
Visit and inspect all warehouses and drop yards in the market on a monthly basis, and lead warehouse and drop‑yard inspection for audit compliance
Submit KPI and end‑of‑month information to MM and corporate support
Review prior month P&L with TM and finance lead
Attend safety training sessions and complete any assigned training
Quarterly
Participate in Individual Development Planning (IDP) with MM
Complete IDP with SCWs
Lead the coordination of container auctions
Perform full quarterly container reconciliation and turn it into TM for self‑audits
Attend EMT PODZILLA and customer damage field‑repair training
Management and Supervisory Responsibilities
Typically reports to the Market Manager
Directly responsible for managing other employees (hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management) of Storage Center Workers and Equipment Maintenance Technicians
Job Qualifications
High School diploma required; college degree preferred or a minimum of one year of prior management experience
Ability to apply for and successfully attain a CDL Class B license or higher
Maintain a current, valid driver license from the state in which the position is assigned
Obtain PODS forklift certification
Obtain a valid DOT medical card
Mechanical ability essential to identify problems with equipment
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for up to eight hours a day; use hands and fingers to type on a keyboard and use a mouse to navigate
Ability to stand and walk for up to eight hours a day; stoop, bend, and lift boxes weighing up to 40 lbs
Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Require close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
Regularly required to sit; use hands to feel or handle; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear
Ability to hear and verbally communicate using a telephone handset and/or connected headset device
Working Conditions
Schedule is on a rotating basis with a combination of weekday and weekend work
Travel requirements: Within local territory
May be subject to pre‑employment criminal background check, drug screening, and random drug screenings in accordance with company policy
