Position Summary
The Sr. Financial Analyst plays a critical role in supporting CHA, and hospital systems overall, by delivering strategic financial analysis that informs policy, advocacy, and decision-making. This position leads complex modeling and reporting on hospital financing trends and translates data into clear insights for CHA leadership, members, and partners. The role serves as a trusted resource on hospital reimbursement, Medicaid financing, and the financial impact of regulatory change.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Create, lead, and prepare analyses and reporting of the Colorado hospital industry financial and economic conditions

Maintain analytic models to understand fee, payment, and expenditure trends in Colorado Healthcare Affordability and Sustainability Enterprise (CHASE) a $5+ billion program.

Work directly with CHA hospital members and the department of Health Care Policy and Financing on variance analysis and to identify and resolve reporting irregularities or errors within the Medicaid financing and the CHASE program.

Use business analytic tools (Excel, Power BI, Alteryx) to connect data sets, transform and clean data into visualizations for CHA staff and Colorado hospitals.

Provide financial analysis and support for legislative, regulatory, or other proposed changes impacting hospital finances

Understand State and Federal statutes and regulations related to hospital finances including Medicare and Medicaid programs.

Prepare CHA mitigation calculation and communicate contribution and payment changes to CHA hospital members.

Understand and evaluate analyses prepared and provided to CHA by outside parties to determine their usefulness to CHA and CHA members.

Create analyses based on available data sources, including the CHA discharge data, DATABANK, Medicare Cost reports, HANYS, or other available data.

Assist Vice President of Finance in coordinating CHA communications, education and presentations based on analysis of State and Federal rules and regulatory changes.

Ability to create and present educational presentations for internal staff, State employees and CHA’s membership.

Work with CHA data team and the association advocacy team to provide hospital finance expertise and related financial analysis in response to ad hoc requests.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Required

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, statistics, or related field

3–6 years of experience in financial or statistical analysis, including at least 2+ years in U.S.-based healthcare finance, hospital finance, or healthcare policy analysis

Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including ability to build and analyze complex financial models

Experience translating complex data into clear insights for non-financial stakeholders

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation development

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Strong time management, prioritization, and analytical research skills

Preferred

Experience in hospital finance, reimbursement modeling, or Medicaid/Medicare policy

Familiarity with Medicare Cost Reports and/or healthcare claims or discharge data

Experience working with state agencies, healthcare associations, or regulatory environments

Proficiency with data and analytics tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, or similar platforms

Experience evaluating or building models related to healthcare payment systems (e.g., CHASE, Medicaid supplemental payments)

Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., MHA, MPH, MBA, or MS in Finance/Analytics)

This position is based in the Denver metro area with a hybrid work environment (in-office and remote). Occasional overnight travel required.

Requires infrequent weekend and/or evening work.

Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed.

Requires walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day.

Hiring salary range
$80,000 - $100,000 annually, benefits eligible

The hiring salary range represents a targeted hiring range based on candidate’s experience, education, and/or skill level. The actual starting salary may be more or less depending on individual qualifications and does not represent the position’s full salary range.
