Asphalt Utility Person
Tilcon New York Inc., a CRH company, is seeking an Asphalt Utility Person in the Haverstraw NY area. Tilcon New York Inc. is an integrated materials company with multiple quarry locations, water terminals, heavy highway construction division, asphalt and recycle plants. Tilcon manufactures, sells and ships, made in the USA, products of crushed stone, asphalt, sand, gravel and recycled materials throughout New York, New Jersey, and some areas of Pennsylvania.
Position Overview: Ensure safe, efficient and proper operation of feed conveyors, hoppers, chutes.
Compensation: Starting rate $31.90+ shift differentials, holiday pay, PTO, safety apparel allowance, paid health benefits, 401k plan, company contributed pension plan, company contributed annuity plan, company contributed savings plan and more!
Roles & Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions): Inspect work area and complete Work Area Inspection forms and Production report daily. May be called upon at discretion of the Plant Manager to perform any other duties assigned and to assist other departments if necessary. Perform routine maintenance. Assist in repairs and maintain housekeeping. Wear a hardhat, safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, gloves, hearing protection and respirator as needed. Learn and implement OSHA standards and regulations to insure a safe operating environment is maintained at all times. Report any safety concerns to the Plant Manager immediately. Regular and timely attendance is required.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience Required: High School or GED, successful completion of MSHA/OSHA Training. Task training on an as needed basis. Preferred: Welding and Cutting skills useful. Knowledge of asphalt production preferred.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements: Basic mechanical skills needed. Must possess the ability to properly splice and maintain conveyor belts. Must be able to identify areas of containment. Ability to carry out simple oral and written instructions. Basic mathematical skills. Able to perform all duties without a direct threat of injury to the individual or others. Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently. Demonstrates safe, productive job performance. Ability to communicate effectively with and work well with other personnel. Ability to carry out simple oral and written instructions and deal with simple problems. Ability to read English or Spanish.
