
Project Manager

Smith & Oby is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to join our growing team in Walton Hills, Ohio. In this role, you will be responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and execution of construction and mechanical systems projects from inception through closeout. Working closely with internal departments and field leadership, the Project Manager serves as the primary point of accountability for project delivery, quality, safety, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Review opportunities and qualify projects to bid
Attend pre-bid walk-throughs
Perform computer-driven estimates and prepare bid documents
Prepare budgets, issue subcontracts, and prepare schedules
Track, report, and invoice projects
Manage change orders
Handle customer inquiries and complaints
Prepare close‑out documents
Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and superintendents
Develop and maintain a knowledge base of evolving products and services
Qualifications
Previous experience in construction and mechanical systems
Ability to read drawings and estimate
Ability to build rapport with clients
Ability to prioritize and multitask
Positive and professional demeanor
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent computer skills
4-year degree in Construction Management or Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience; candidates with 4 or more years of hands‑on experience in the mechanical construction field will be considered in lieu of a degree
Work Environment
Office-based role in Walton Hills, OH with occasional site visits to project locations
Collaborative and fast‑paced environment requiring flexibility and adaptability
