Project Manager
PanelClad, Visalia, CA, United States
Overview
PanelClad is a vertically integrated design-build metal building contractor specializing in complex metal building erection across California. We manufacture our own patented equipment and build with crews that take pride in doing things right the first time. Founded by third-generation builders, we’ve grown fast and we’re not done. We reward people who show up, figure things out, and make us better.
We’re a scaling company. That means some days are polished and some days you’re building the plane while flying it. If that excites you more than it scares you, keep reading.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We’re not looking for someone to fill a seat. We want a builder — someone who has done this before, knows what good looks like, and is ready to bring those tools into a company where their fingerprints will actually show up.
This role is wide open for the right person. PanelClad is at a point in our growth where we need leaders who can run a project AND help shape how we run projects. If you’ve been doing this job at a company that has it figured out but won’t let you touch the playbook, this might be exactly where you’ve been trying to get.
Position Summary
The Project Manager is the engine behind every job we deliver. From contract handoff to project closeout, you own the schedule, the materials, the customer relationship, and the coordination between field and office. You’re the connective tissue between what we sold and what we build.
This isn’t a role where you wait for someone to tell you what to do. You’ll be handed a project, a scope, a budget, and a timeline; and you’ll be expected to drive it.
What You’ll Own
Customer Coordination & Communication
Serve as the primary point of contact from contract award through project closeout
Establish timelines, milestones, and expectations; and hold them
Deliver clear, consistent updates that keep customers informed and confident
Navigate difficult conversations with professionalism and follow-through
Run project meetings and represent PanelClad at every touchpoint
Project Planning & Scheduling
Build project schedules that account for materials, equipment, and crew availability
Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and potential delays before they become problems
Maintain live schedules in project management software (BuilderTrend or equivalent)
Coordinate with the Operations Manager to align field execution with the project plan
Own the project handoff from Pre-Construction; know the scope, specs, and contract cold
Prepare and submit material submittals; track approvals before initiating procurement
Maintain clean submittal records from first submission through final approval
Material Procurement & Management
Procure all project materials: panels, fasteners, insulation, components; within budget
Execute vendor quotes and issue purchase orders with cost awareness baked in
Manage delivery logistics to prevent downtime in the field
Stay ahead of long-lead items so nothing slips through
Look for value engineering opportunities without compromising spec
Equipment Coordination
Ensure the right equipment is on site at the right time
Coordinate rentals, deliveries, and pickups in sync with the project schedule
Track equipment costs and flag any budget variances
Change Order Management
Identify scope changes early and document them clearly
Collaborate with Pre-Construction on pricing and get customer approvals without delay
Track all CO impacts to budget and schedule
Cost Tracking & Reporting
Track actual costs vs. estimate throughout the project lifecycle
Participate in weekly and monthly WIP meetings with clear, accurate data
Flag budget variances early; no surprises at closeout
Partner with the Controller on financial data and reporting
Project Documentation & Closeout
Compile warranty packages and closeout documentation per contract requirements
Get customer sign-off and pull the lessons from every project
Who You Are
We’ve outlined the role, but what we’re really looking for is a specific kind of person.
You’re a self-starter. You don’t wait to be told what to do next; you already know, and you’re already doing it.
You bring a playbook. You’ve done this long enough to know what works. You have systems, habits, and processes that produce results; and you’re not precious about evolving them.
You’re a team player who can also go it alone. You communicate well, you pull people in when you need them, and you don’t drop balls when no one’s watching.
You have high standards. You care about doing the job right, not just getting it done. There’s a difference.
You’re not intimidated by growth. PanelClad is scaling. Some processes are being built in real time. If you want to be the person who builds them, this is your seat.
You’re direct and clear. Customers, vendors, field crews; everyone around you knows where a project stands because you tell them.
You want to grow. Not just in title, but in capability, influence, and ownership. We have room for that.
