Position Summary
This position is accountable for managing and supervising the operation, maintenance and repair of automatic substations and related equipment.
Responsibilities
The selected candidates’ responsibilities will include but are not limited to coordinating General Orders; removing and restoring power during emergencies; coordinating with Con Edison's District Operators for scheduled and unscheduled high-tension feeder outages. Ensures the seamless delivery of 25 cycle signal power for portions of the signal system that still requires it on the IRT and BMT divisions. Responsibilities also include the coordination of planned work with C&D for substation and CBH capital contracts and with Electrical-Power’s maintenance and repair schedule.They will ensure the delivery of safe and reliable third rail traction power with the primary goal to ensure that the contact rail remains energized while allowing for the planned work. The selected candidate will prepare paper and electronic written reports detailing emergency, operating, maintenance or any other conditions affecting subway service for senior management review.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’sdegreefrom an accredited college inIndustrial Management.Five (5) years offull-timerelated professional experience, including a minimum of two (2) years of managerial/supervisory experience, or
A satisfactory equivalent of the combined education and experience.
Desired Skills
Knowledge of Rapid Transit power systems operations and maintenance of related power equipment.
Knowledge of computer systems.
Selection Method
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, interview, and written assessment. All selected candidates will be subject to a full background investigation that includes employment and education. Discrepancies may lead to dismissal.
