
Senior Safety Engineer

You will be the Senior Safety Compliance Engineer for the Environmental Safety and Health team. Our team is responsible for ensuring safety compliance and risk mitigation across all programs at the Troy, Alabama Missiles and Fire Control facility.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Senior Safety Compliance Engineer, you will analyze accident and injury data to develop mitigation strategies, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and safeguarding employees from potential hazards.
Conducting compliance assessments to verify adherence to safety standards and procedures.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement ergonomic tools and practices within manufacturing operations.
Developing job hazard analyses and risk assessments to support manufacturing processes.
Conducting incident investigations with recommended corrective actions.
Applying relevant standards from DOD, NFPA, OSHA, and ANSI.
Daily interaction within manufacturing areas is expected, requiring active engagement. The ideal candidate should be willing to work on-call and across various shifts as needed, and occasional travel may be required.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, supplemented by a minimum of three years of professional experience.
Proven experience in manufacturing operations.
Ability to interpret and apply industry standards and regulatory requirements, including NFPA, ADEM, EPA, DOT, ANSI, OSHA, and DOD.
Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and presenting Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) metrics to stakeholders, with the ability to provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Must be able to pass OSHA Hazwoper Medical Evaluation and, if necessary for emergency response, wear an SCBA respirator.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and must have at a minimum an interim Secret security clearance prior to start.
Ability to work additional time outside of normal work schedule.
Candidate must be able to pass a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) background check to obtain approval to be an 'employee possessor' of explosives or other ATF-regulated items. Failure to obtain and retain employee possessor status may result in revocation of an offer and loss of employment.
Desired Skills
Proven Record of implementing an Injury Reduction Program.
Experience with robotics, automation and advanced manufacturing.
SAP, Enablon, and Wind Chill business systems.
Background working knowledge of Explosive Safety.
Knowledge of ASTM, ADEM, DOT, NFPA, ANSI and OSHA safety standards.
Knowledge of Radio Frequency, Laser and X-ray hazards.
Clearance & Security Requirements
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Secret clearance. A company-sponsored Interim Secret clearance is required to start.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
