Mid‑Level Geotechnical Engineer / Assistant Project Manager or Assistant Technical Specialist
to join our transportation, building, energy, and infrastructure practice. This position will support projects through proposal, contract, and execution phases, with responsibility for the day‑to‑day technical delivery of work.

Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and oversee subsurface exploration and construction observation/field testing activities
Assist with task management on large project teams or independently manage smaller projects, including delegation to field staff
Execute day‑to‑day technical project tasks and contribute to design deliverables in accordance with QA/QC standards
Monitor project performance, budgets, and compliance with contractual requirements
Assist with proposal development and preparation, review, and authorship of geotechnical reports
Participate in staff training and support GZA’s “One Company” approach by assisting with tasks outside primary responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred
Engineer in Training (EIT) required; intent to obtain PE within 1–2 years
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (Master’s degree may substitute for up to 2 years)
Experience with geotechnical design and construction for foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, ground improvement, and related evaluations
Ability to perform and manage fieldwork and construction oversight
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
Proficiency with MS Office and geotechnical software (e.g., SEEP/W, SLOPE/W, LPILE, GROUP, Settle 3D, WEAP, or similar); proficiency with Autodesk CAD programs is a plus
The base salary for this position may range between $85,000-120,000. The actual base salary and total compensation will depend on many factors, including location, candidate experience, education, professional licensure, and other qualifications.
