Position Title: Recertification Coordinator Specialist
Status: Direct Hire
Location: Bronx, New York, Zip 10463– On-site
Hours: Mon – Fri, 9 am–5 pm
Pay: $60,000 - $70,000
Job Summary
We are hiring an experienced Recertification Coordinator with at least 2-years’ experience in Affordable Housing. Please do not apply if you have never processed compliance recertifications for affordable housing tenants at an apartment management company. While we assist in your transition into the role, we will not be able to train anyone. You will need the core experience and hit the ground running.
Please do not apply if your only experience has been as a Case Worker, Property Manager, Leasing Agent, or any other related position. We need someone who has exact experience as a Compliance Recertification Coordinator.
Essential functions
Reports to the Supervisor of the Compliance Department.
Review all resident files within the portfolio and apply knowledge of regulatory requirements for properties to ensure compliance standards are met.
Notify residents of upcoming annual recertifications.
Collect all required documents needed.
Calculate income and assets.
Request and process all third-party verification forms.
Review resident-provided information for accuracy and completeness.
Process annual recertifications according to the LIHTC/ HOME guidelines.
Maintain accurate and audit ready hard copy and electronic files.
Prepare Section 8, CityFheps, HRA packages for tenants within the portfolio applying for subsidy.
Prepare AOC’s and e-rent rolls for agency submissions.
Respond promptly and professionally to agency requests.
Identify and correct all findings within the portfolio to ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements.
Adjust tenant’s ledgers when needed based on subsidy share changes.
Communicate proactively and professionally with residents regarding recertifications, subsidy changes, rent adjustments, ensuring concerns are addressed promptly and fairly.
Perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years related work experience in compliance with affordable housing
Outstanding communication and customer service skills, both verbal and written
Possess strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting
Knowledge of Section 8, City Fheps, HOME, LIHTC, PBV and Rent stabilization
Detail oriented and the ability to operate on a deadline‑driven schedule
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or as part of a team
Experience with Yardi
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Notary public is a plus
Spanish speaking is a plus
Friendly, personable, and able to think on their feet
Strong communication skills
Responsible, well‑spoken, trustworthy
Ability to be a team player and be proactive
Highly organized, relaxed, and detail oriented
Ability to maintain composure within a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment
