
Manufacturing Buyer - Temporary

LHH is looking for an experienced Buyer for an on-site, temporary role in Sterling, VA. This position supports day-to-day procurement activities and plays a key role in ensuring materials, components, and services are available to meet manufacturing, service, and operational needs.
This role partners closely with supply chain and operations teams to manage purchasing activities, support suppliers, and help maintain cost, quality, and delivery targets.
Responsibilities
Issue and manage purchase orders for direct and indirect materials based on MRP signals, production schedules, and operational requirements
Maintain inventory levels that support on-time delivery while reducing excess and obsolete materials
Expedite materials as needed to address supply risks and avoid production disruptions
Manage supplier relationships, including order confirmations, delivery performance, quality issues, and corrective actions
Support supplier discussions around pricing, lead times, and commercial terms within established authority
Track and report purchasing KPIs such as on-time delivery, lead time, cost variance, and supplier responsiveness
Contribute to cost-reduction initiatives, including PPV and value analysis efforts
Ensure purchased materials meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and documentation expectations
Maintain accurate purchasing, pricing, and supplier data within ERP systems
Resolve invoice discrepancies, receiving issues, and other purchase order exceptions
Collaborate with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to align supply with business needs
Support new product introductions, engineering changes, and product lifecycle transitions
